How to dye black hair, a medium brown colour at home?

my asian friend wants me to dye her hair a medium brown colour, and atm it is black. So how would i do this, at home? Keeping in mind that she is an asian, so she has asian hair! Do i have to bleach it first with peroxide and bleaching powder, then dye it the brown colour? I really need to know asap how to do this. I've experienced dying hair a lot, including with bleach and stuff, but just not asian hair. And please just don't say 'go to a salon' because i just won't listen okay, only serious answers! Thanks :)
