In minecraft, is there any legal way to revert back to 1.6.6?

On my multiplayer server, They use bukkit 1.6.6 for everything, its a faction server, and if u have 1.7 and go on it says its outdated, is there any legal way to go back to 1.6.6 so i can play on it?
